Dans l’objectif de déterminer l’état de la contamination organique et inorganique des sédiments superficiels de la frange côtière du golfe de Gabès, nous avons évalué les concentrations en hydrocarbures aromatiques totaux, en cadmium (Cd), en plomb (Pb) et en mercure (Hg). L’échantillonnage a été effectué à bord d’une barque motorisée, à l’aide d’une benne Van Veen au niveau de 25 stations. Diatom, hydrocarbons and fatty acid sedimentary records were used for reconstructing the recent (last 150 years) palaeolimnological history of Laguna Chica of San Pedro (Concepción, VIII Región, Chile). Cluster analyses (Constrained Incremental Sum of Squares) on the diatom data revealed three distinct periods. The first period (1883-1940's) showed a pronounced increase in sedimentation rate and a slight increase in organic matter accumulation. In this period, eutrophic species (Aulacoseira granulata and Staurosira construens) became increasingly dominant. From the 1940s until the 1970s the diatom signal is more equivocal: after the initial decrease in the relative abundance of A. granulata and S. construens their numbers fluctuate without a clear pattern.... |

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the effects of the water-soluble fraction of gasoline (WSFG) on the Neotropical freshwater fish Prochilodus lineatus. The WSFG was prepared by mixing gasoline in water (1:4) and animals were exposed for 6, 24 and 96h to 5% diluted WSFG or only to water. After exposure, blood was collected from the caudal vein and the gills were removed. Los hidrocarburos fueron investigados en el área costera del Litoral Ecuatoriano bajo el proyecto ODEPLAN del INP. La información evaluada corresponde al mes de octubre del 2003. Se programaron un total de 42 sitios para el muestreo de sedimentos de fondo, los cuales fueron demarcados con un GPS (Global Positional System). Lipid transport in arthropods is achieved by highly specialized lipoproteins, which resemble those described in vertebrate blood. Here we describe purification and characterization of the lipid-apolipoprotein complex, lipophorin (Lp), from adults and larvae of the cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus. We also describe the Lp-mediated lipid transfer to developing oocytes. Lps were isolated from homogenates of C. maculatus larvae and adults by potassio bromide gradient and characterized with respect to physicochemical properties and lipid content. Using Using SCUBA diving, surveying the coral reef communities at four sites, Red Sea Egypt was done. These sites are: Ras El Behar (polluted by petroleum oil), El-Hamraween (impacted by phosphate shipping), Shabrour Umm Gam’ar (harmed by recreational activities and has been suffering from the outbreak of Acanthaster planci during 1998) and Kalawy (a control site). The skeletal growth of the coral Stylophora pistillata was promoted greatly at the expense of other corals, in presence of chronic oil pollution (Ras El-Behar). Проанализировано распределения бактерио-, мейо- и макрозообентоса в зависимости от физико-химических характеристик донных осадков бухты Южная (г. Севастополь, Чёрное море). Содержание нефтяных углеводородов составляло 607,2 – 1458,0 мг/100 г сух. осадка. В вершинной части бухты отмечено снижение концентраций нефтяных углеводородов. Общая численность гетеротрофных бактерий находилась в пределах 104 кл./г, плотность мейобентосного населения 9500 – 197800 экз./м2. Наибольшая средняя плотность мейобентоса приурочена к кутовой части бухты.
